SABAK BERNAM, 18 Dec: The Islamic integrated education system is growing and is in high demand among parents.
The Exco for Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs, Rural Development and Traditional Villages, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that it is a good development in the education world.
He said that the state government welcomes the effort to develop Tahfiz schools and will assist in the necessary matters.
“Religious secondary schools or Tahfiz integrated schools now in general have a high demand.
“In addition to the ability of the state government to establish Tahfiz religious secondary schools and this academic integration, we also hope for NGOs, in addition to the government, to establish education centres like this,” he said after the briefing session and visit to the Selangor Intellectual Tahfiz Integrated College (KITTIS) yesterday.
He said that in a short period KITTIS has been listed among the best Religious Secondary Schools in Selangor.
“In the past three years, KITTIS has successfully been proudly recoginised with their number of students, despite a small amount with only 129 students, it has shown its strength.
“The Islamic education system which is highlighted is considered good, perhaps it has just not been announced,” he said.
He said that the demand for KITTIS to increase their number of students as well as using the facilities of the building nearby, the Sekendi Religious Primary School which is located in the area of the Sekendi Mosque, it will be considered as best possible.
He said that this is because the school building is no longer used and is still in good condition and it would be a loss if not used for the good of the public.
“I need to look into this matter because I was informed in general that it is definitely under the operation of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS). Its position in the mosque area would definitely place its administration under JAIS.
“I think that it is quite easy but it is necessary to first ensure its status,” he said.
Ahmad Yunus said that one of the best examples in the development of the Tahfiz integrated school in Selangor is the cooperation of the community who have helped a lot in making this a success.
“We have seen the community helping out at some integrated schools.
“I do not see this as something difficult, especially as there are contributors to build dormitories and so on (for KITTIS),” he said.
