PKR leaders unclear of Roland Chia’s reason to resign

KUALA SELANGOR, 19 Dec: The top leaders of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) are unclear about reason of the Inanam Assemblyman (PKR), Dr Roland Chia, regarding his decision to recently resign.

The PKR Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that he will meet with Dr Chia in the near future to know the exact cause of the matter.

He said that Dr Chia should discuss with the top leaders of the party before making any decision.

“He did not resign. But I was told that his health was not so good. I will meet with him in the near future,” he said after attending the monthly meeting with the civil servants of the Kuala Selangor District Council today.

Yesterday, Dr Chia shocked PKR after declaring his intention to resign as a representative of the people on Facebook and Twitter on grounds of health.

“He just mentioned that he was unwell and unable to provide the best service, so he plans to resign.

“I communicated with him to hold a discussion and it will take place in the near future,” he said.

Dr Chia won the Inanam seat for the first time during the 13th General Election on May 5, 2013, with a majority of 3,202 in a three-cornered fight.

He received 8,926 votes while the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, Joseph Paulus Lantip from the Sabah United Party received 5,724 and Eric Majimbun, representing the Sabah Progressive Party, received 5,003 votes.
