Selangor PR committed to complete 180 abandoned, ownership projects left by BN

PUCHONG, 21 Dec: Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is trying to complete 180 abandoned projects and the ownership issue left behind by Barisan Nasional (BN) as soon as PR took over the administration of Selangor in 2008.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government’s study found that among the main causes of the problem are due to the BN government’s practices prior to 2008 of awarding land to certain parties and giving approval for the planning permission before the developer pays the premium on the land.

“So, what was done by the developers was to develop the land, collect the full payments from the buyers and after that, they will disappear. Supposedly, they go bankrupt and had to fold their companies,” he said during the Coral Land Corporation Sdn Bhd Project 5A Form Presentation Ceremony and the Lestari Perdana Development, Puchong Perdana, Ownership Letter Presentation today.

After taking over the administration in 2008, PR has actively tried to solve the issue of abandoned projects that cause real estate buyers to be involved as victims when they were forced to pay off their bank loans to buy the abandoned units.

Among the projects successfully completed includes the 1,442 units of detached residential units for the resettlement project in Bukit Botak, which was abandoned for over 20 years and involved the indigenous people in the area.

After the abandoned project was successfully completed by PKNS, BN then, without guilt, tried to sweet-talk the buyers of the property by offering ‘attractive prices’ during the 13th General Election campaign.

However, the offer was not well received by the residents involved as they were tired of being cheated by BN’s sweet promises to solve the issue in several previous elections.

Meanwhile, the state government also solved the issue involving the buyers’ ownership of residential units, commercial units and government settlement land that has lasted for over 10 years.

This included the involvement of 128 owners of business premises in Lestari Perdana and the light industry in Taman Subang Permai. Both received their respective 5A Forms today.
