Forget immature politics, flood victims are more important

KOTA BHARU, 26 Dec: All parties should forget political interests at this time when several states have been hit by floods since December 16.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that political maturity is important in the effort to ensure that flood victims receive appropriate assistance.

He said that the state government had approved a donation of RM1.3 million involving a distribution of RM1 million for Kelantan while the remaining RM300,000 was for Terengganu, Pahang and Perak.

“What is important now is the caring attitude of all leaders towards the people in the several states that are facing floods.

“The state government personally visited to present the RM1 million donation to Kelantan while the three other states will each receive RM100,000,” he said after visiting the evacuation centre at the Sultan Ismail College today.

The visit was also joined by his Political Secretary, Shuhaimi Shafiei, and state government Exco members, Dr Daroyah Alwi and Amirudin Shari, and also the Chairman of the Selangor Humanitarian Aid Mission Association (PANTAS), Hamsah Djabir.

At the same time, Mohamed Azmin said that he has instructed all local authorities in Selangor to deploy teams to help Kelantan for the post-flood clean-up.

“Post-flood requires more energy and help to restore the environment ,which has been badly hit by disaster.

“Hopefully continuous efforts will help the flood victims in all states,” he said.
