SHAH ALAM, 19 Jan: The Pongal Festival unites and brings people from various races and believes together in Tanung Sepat.
Located at Taman Teluk Merbau, over 100 people attended to enliven the Indian festival.
The event was graced by the presence of the Tanjung Sepat Assemblyman, Mohd Haslin Hassan, and the Sepang Member of Parliament, Mohamed Hanipa Maidin.
As the representative of the organiser and the Teluk Merbau Community leader, Irruspen was pleased and happy with the response given by the local community.
As an attraction, the festival was also enlivened by sports activities and the presentation of school aid.
Apart from Deepavali and Thaipusam, Pongal is also a celebration celebrated by the Indian community.
The word ‘pongal’ means ‘harvest time’ and it marks the time to harvest crops in the past.
