KUALA LANGAT, 22 Jan: The Selangor Water Supply Company Sdn Bhd (Syabas) has been ordered to identify problems related to distribution pipe leaks from the Semenyih Water Treatment Plant to ensure that the water disruption crisis will not continue to worsen in the district of Kuala Langat.
The Exco for Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-based Industries, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that the state government carries out monitoring form time to time regarding the problem of water disruption that plagues the residents in the area since two weeks ago.
He said that the Water Monitoring Committee, which is chaired by State Government Secretary (SUK) Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, held a meeting to discuss the problem and it has also received the attention of the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali.
“When the Chief Minister heard about this report, he went to Teluk Panglima Garang to look at the situation because he knows that this water problem is serious and requires attention.
“The state government is also in the process of completing the water restructuring, so we are sure that all water departments can solve it well,” he told Selangor Kini.
In the meantime, Zaidy also announced that a special agenda involving water supply will be discussed with the Executive Council on February 6.
Several areas in the district of Kuala Langat reportedly experienced water supply disruptions and low water pressure for almost two weeks.
This happened due to the decline in water level at the Bukit Lipat Kajang Water Pool in the Klang district.
As a result, a total of 5,890 homes were identified of experiencing disruption problems.
Among the areas identifies are 7 and 8 Sijangkang, Batu 9 Kampung Medan, Taman Desa Sijangkang, Taman Riveria Perdana, Taman Permai Sijangkang and Taman Sijangkang Indah.
Other areas include Taman Medan Indah, Taman Perwira, Taman Sijangkang Jaya and Taman Seri Medan.
