Overseas travel, Permata should cut back expenditure

SHAH ALAM, 24 Jan: The administration of Datuk Seri Najib Razak continues to spend lavishly despite being reminded many times to be prudent in spending government funds.

This situation will become worse as the economic situation in 2015 is expected to be slow due to the depreciation of the Ringgit and oil prices.

Hulu Langat Member of Parliament, Dr Che Rosli Che Mat, said that Permata, which is patronised by the Chief Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and travels abroad are among the few issues that have been touched on many times by Parliamentarians.

“We are tired of reprimanding. The expenditure of JPM, Permata and travels abroad should be reduced, but it looks like there has been no effect. They are still splurging despite the economic slowdown.

“I hope that the budget reshuffling mentioned by the Prime Minister will examine the three issues I just mentioned,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini today.

He said that what is more disappointing is the the government instead has taken the approach to pressure the people by imposing taxes, including the goods and services tax (GST), to accommodate their wastage.

“They should be more responsible and not just shift the burden caused by the weaknesses of the government to the people,” he said.
