However, he said that the list of council members cannot be disclosed to the public, but confirmed that there are old faces that will be retained and new appointments for related positions.

“So far, we have received 11 names that were given in writing (preliminary notice) and there are 14 vacancies, with one DAP representative who has resigned.

“So the 13 vacancies have been reserved for representatives and non-governmental organisations from the People’s Justice Party (PKR), while one vacancy if for a DAP representative,” he said during a media conference after chairing the MBPJ Monthly Meeting today.

Meanwhile, when commenting on the appointment of the new Mayor, Puasa said that it is still subject to the decision from the state government which will be determined by the State Government Executive Council (Exco).

He said that the candidate who will occupy the position has been handed to the Public Service Department (JPA) to be processed and are awaiting further decisions.

“Until the Mayor’s position is taken, I will act as the acting mayor because all decisions depend on the state government.

“The list of candidates has been submitted, including me (as a candidate), but even I do not know when it will be decided, wither in February or March,” he added.
