SHAH ALAM, 1 Feb: The People’s Housing Project (PPR) should have proper facilities to prevent incidents of children from falling off buildings from repeating.
Sekinchan Assemblyman, Ng Suee Lim, said that as a government that cares for the people, it should focus on helping the people, especially those of low income.
He said this when commenting on the state government’s step of wanting the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) to conduct inspections at all PPRs in the state following the incident where a child fell from level 6 of the Kota Damansara PPR recently.
“I fully support the measures and initiatives taken by the state government in ensuring that PPRs have proper facilities.
“We have been aware for some time that the conditions and facilities for the people in PPRs are poor. Therefore, the state government should help,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini.
Meanwhile, the Morib Assemblyman, Hasnul Baharuddin, said that the move to repair the facilities that are being carried out is a good step and should be noted.
He said that this move is to prevent the culture of neglect and not minding that invites danger.
“But to prevent recurrence, this is a great step for all states to carry out,” he said.
Hasnul said that the state government should also set strict and reasonable conditions for the developers to provide housing that feature safety and is people-friendly for the safety of the residents.
“However, it should not be too troublesome to the developers,” he said.
Prior to this, the Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Life, Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that the reparation work is being done immediately for the safety and comfort of the residents.
Prior to this, Iskandar said that in 2012, 12 elevators and 8 water pumps were repaired or replaced at a cost of over RM1.16 million at the Kota Damansara PPR.
