FOMCA: Form a special body to maintain low-cost houses & PPRs

SHAH ALAM, 3 Feb: The state government has been urged to form a special body dedicated to maintaining low-cost houses and People’s Housing Projects (PPRs).

The Deputy President of the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca), Mohd Yusof Abd Rahman, said that the move is necessary as Joint management Bodies (JMBs) are frequently lacking funds.

“This is because usually the residents are not the owners, only the tenants, so awareness to pay maintenance fees is low.

“This has caused JMBs to be unable to perform periodic maintenance, contributing to unsatisfactory infrastructure and facilities that are sometimes dangerous,” he told Selangor Kini.
