HULU LANGAT, 10 Feb: Almost 100 participants among the youth in Selangor are undergoing a breeding course under the Agricultural Youth Programme that is being organised by the state government.

The Exco for Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based Industries, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that the effort is being taken to ensure that participants are equipped with knowledge, training and skills before being independent as livestock entrepreneurs.

“Knowledge is the core of any success. In the effort to produce successful livestock entrepreneurs among the youth in Selangor, we have to equip them with knowledgeable courses such as this.

“The cost for the six-day academic training is RM1,500 which is being fully borne by the state government,” he said.

Until now, the Selangor government has appointed several training academics as training vendors, including the Breeding Entrepreneur’s Academy, MJ Fatonah Sdn Bhd.

“Apart from the training cost, their main problem is also location and land. So, the state government will help overcome this problem by identifying space that can be used for breeding purposes,” he said.

Commenting further, Zaidy said that they are equipping the Agricultural Youth Programme for the agricultural and fisheries sectors.

“We are still planning to resolve several matters in the agricultural and fisheries sector. We have already paid a working visit to the departments involved to foster cooperation in developing this programme.

“I myself have been just appointed as a Group Member of PKPS (Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation) and I have identified some land to be used in this programme,” he said.
