MPK: Residents’ association urged to request for large trash bins

SHAH ALAM, 12 Feb: Residents’ associations are advised to request for large trash bins to facilitate waste collection in conjunction with the Chinese New Year.

The proposal is based on a scenario in the past when residents will work together to clean their homes and throw away bulk waste.

The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Yang DiPertua, Datuk Mohamad Yacob, said that the attitude of residents who like to throw waste will affect the environment.

He said that MPK suggests for the residents’ associations to collect garbage at special location and contact MPK for waste collection.

“Through a survey conducted previously, several housing areas experienced cases where residents took the easy way out by throwing waste into drains and caused it to be clogged,” he told Selangor Kini.

He said that MPK also asked residents to constantly keep close contact with the police for security purposes seeing that the Chinese New Year holidays is rather long.
