SHAH ALAM, 22 Feb: Two brothers from Sabak Bernam, Selangor, are now in Muar in their journey by foot across the peninsula with the mission of cleaning mosques along their travels.
Anas Aiman Jaffry, 27, and Muhamad Aidil, 24, began their journey at the Shah Alam Mosque in Selangor on January 24.
So far they have cleaned 19 mosques in Selangor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Johore, and will walk over 1,000 kilometres to visit 132 selected mosques.
“We have arrived in Muar and after this, we will walk to Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru, Mersing and to east coast states like Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan, before heading towards northern states.
“After that, we will return to Selangor to end our adventure at the Shah Alam Mosque, the place where we started,” said Anas, Taken from Harian Metro.
He said that the purpose of their travel is to convey a message to the public that mosques belong to everyone.
“Among the necessities we have include tents for fear that we will not be allowed to spend the night at the mosque, in addition to medical supplies and water.
“We are also using a small cart to ensure comfort in carrying our equipment and so that our travel will go smoothly.
“We have stopped work for the success of this adventure and we have chosen to walk in order to enjoy the scenery and explore the lives of the local people,” he said.
He said that they are confident that they will complete their journey before Ramadan this year.
He said that they each have only RM1,000 and are grateful that many people have helped in giving them food and money, and to reduce their burden.
“If we do not achieve it, we will continue and we are ready to fast and celebrate on the streets,” he said.
