Datum Jelatek: BBDJ Chairman retracts statement, not PKNS that wants to sue

SHAH ALAM, 26 Feb: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) revealed the document of the statement by the Datum Jelatak Task Force (BBDK), Mohd Sallehuddin Abd Samad, at the Kuala Lumpur High Court (civil), was done on August 7, 2014.

The statement recall document that was issued against PKNS on the Datum Jelatak project was created as a solution so that the corporation did not proceed with a lawsuit action against Salehuddin.

It thus denied allegations that PKNS withdrew the suit against Salehuddin die to fear of losing in the trial.

In the lawsuit, PKNS, as the plaintiff, names Salehuddin as the first defendant, Datuk Mustapa Omar representing Harian Metro and New Straits Times Press (M) Sdn Bhd as the second defendant and the New Straits Times Press (M) Sdn Bhd as the third defendant.

The statement that withdrew charges against PKNS was read before Judge Datuk Rosnaini Saub.

“I, Mohd Salehuddin Abd Samad, the first defendant, agree to completely withdraw the words complained that are contained in the press statement that I gave against PKNS and was subsequently published in the Sunday edition of Harian Metro as an article titled ‘bantah bina kondo’ (object to building condo) on February 24, 2013.

“I undertake that I would seek clarification from PKNS before issuing any statements and comments on PKNS regarding the Datum Jelatak project in the future,” he said, quoted from the judgement document involved.

A copy of Sallehuddin’s admission was sent by PKNS to Selangor Kini through an e-mail yesterday.

Prior to this, the General Manager of PKNS, Azlan Md Alifiah, said that PKNS has not withdrawn the suit but was settled with Salehuddin’s agreement to retract his statement.

“I reiterate here that PKNS did not withdraw the suit but settled it with Sallehuddin’s agreement to retract his statement,” said Azlan.

The five-page document also states that PKNS can proceed with the lawsuit if Salehuddin fails to comply with the judgement in the future.
