“Although this effort is small, we hope that it would be able to educate the people,” he said in a press conference today.

Styrofoam food containers are not easily biodegradable, thus causing environmental pollution.

It is also identified as the main cause of clogged drains and its elements take 500 years to be composed and have the potential of emitting greenhouse gasses.

In addition, food containers also provide short-term side effects to the eyes, cardiovascular, skin and gastroenteritis.

The MPSJ Chinese New Celebration 2015 will take place on March 1 at the Basketball Court at Jalan Indah 2, Taman Universiti Indah, Seri Kembangan.

The event is scheduled to take place at 7 pm and end at 10 pm, and it is loaded with a variety of exciting performances with halal meals provided.

“We expect for over 1,500 people from various races to be present, based on achievements of previous years.

“We are concerned about the food because people from the Muslim community will also participate in this event. All food will be Halal,” he said.
