KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Mar: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah, officiated the opening of the third term of the 13th Parliamentary session this morning.
The Agong and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Sultanah Haminah Hamidun, arrived at 10 am, greeted by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
Also there to welcome the Agong was the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, together with the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and his wife, Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman.
Tuanku Abdul Halim and Tuanku Hajah Haminah then were escorted into the Banquet Hall to receive the ‘Royal Salute’ after inspecting the royal guard that took place in the Parliamentary Square.
The First Royal Malaysian Army Regiment from the Sungai Besi Camp then played the national anthem, followed by a 21-gun salute.
