“I propose for MBPJ to expedite this project because an 18-month period is rather long. The residents of Petaling Jaya have also complained that they have problems with this situation.

“Contractors welcomed this view and discussions are being carried out regarding the length of period on how they manage it,” he said in a press conference today.

Rajiv said that the trial period involves two phases; the first phase has been carried out while the second phase begins on March 1 to August 31, 2016, the period given to the contractor.

He said that the 18-month period involves road improvement and landscape construction for the comfort of users using the route when in is completed.

“MBPJ also agreed to ask Merdeka Centre to conduct a public survey on the complaints of traders who claimed that their businesses have been affected by this new traffic system,” he said.

However, he said that the one-way traffic system decided by MBPJ is beneficial when the traffic congestion was reduced compared to before.

The one-way traffic route involves five main roads, Jalan Utara, Jalan Barat, Jalan Timur, Jalan Sultan and Jalan Yong Shook Lin.
