CM: SPLASH still has the right to process water

SHAH ALAM, 17 Mar: The Sungai Selangor Water Producing Company (SPLASH) still has the right to produce water in this state, clarified Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The Chief Minister said that SPLASH has the right as long as the main agreement of the water industry acquisition involving the company is not finalised.

“All operators are given the Water Abstraction Licence to extract raw water, otherwise, how are they to operate.

“This does not only apply to SPLASH but also to Puncak Niaga.

“So, how can the state government revoke the licence to produce water, justice must be upheld,” he told reporters.

He was met after the State Government Departments’ Monthly Assembly at the Silver Jubilee Hall at the SUK Building this morning.

Recently, the former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, questioned the action by the state government of issuing a licence to SPLASH.

The agreement with Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd and the Selangor Water Supply Company Sdn Bhd (Syabas) was in November 2014.

Meanwhile, SPLASH, based on the original agreement, has been given a period of one year (until September 12, 2015) to finalise the agreement with the state government.
