SHAH ALAM, 20 Mar: The Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (WTP), which stopped its operations at 8.30 last night due to an increase of manganese and ammonia parameters in the river, is fully back in operation this morning.
The Chairman of the Selangor Standing Committee for Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Agriculture Modernisation and Agro-based Industries, Zaidy Abdul Talib, said that the water supply recovered as the Sungai Semenyih WTP increased production of treated water to normal levels since 6.15 am.
“At 6.15 this morning, the WTP could fully operate and the pumping 682 million litres per day (MLD) of clean water to water storage tanks has started,” he said in a statement today.
Following the temporary shout-down of the plant, some consumers in 61 areas in Petaling (143,098 house doors); 209 areas in Hulu Langat (143,413 house doors); 75 areas in Kuala Langat (47,147 house doors) and 85 areas in Sepang (61,469 house doors) experienced water disruptions.
