BN Assemblyman: GST would be good when car prices go down

SHAH ALAM, 1 Apr: The first day of the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) is seen as a positive impact when several vehicle manufacturers announced a reduction in car prices.

Sulaiman Abdul Razak (BN-Permatang) said that even though previously there were various polemics that erupted, the announcement today stunned many.

He said that even though the GST was said to be a ghost, it was no longer considered a ghost when companies like Proton, Toyota and Honda announced that they will be reducing prices from one to three percent or RM1,000 to RM1,600.

“People have said that the GST will cause prices to increase, but it was shocking when it was announced that car prices will be reduced,” he told Selangor Kini.

He explained that the Federal Government should be given the opportunity to implement the GST and he admits that there were obstacles in the early stages but it will all be explained from time to time.

He welcomed debate from various parties regarding the GST, including statements from leaders of Pakatan Rakyat.

“Thanks to the opposition, Rafizi Ramli and his friends who condemned the GST, and finally this is the only government policy that has received a lot of responses.

“I’m sure that when the GST is on the right path, the people from the lowest level will also know their rights.

“In the future, they will not be deceived and not be taken advantage of traders who increase their prices because eventually, the system can be checked to determine whether the goods are subject to the GST or not,” he added.
