Selangor exchanges views with international academics

SHAH ALAM, 10 Apr: The Selangor government has fostered close ties with academics from world-famous universities to strengthen strategic education in the state.

The Exco for Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said that it helps the strategic planning of tertiary education programmes.

“This is an opportunity to exchange views and ideas with the world’s best universities,” he said in a press statement.

He led a six-day working visit, starting March 24, with the President of the University of Selangor (Unisel), Professor Dr Anuar Ahmad, and his advisor, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Abdul Latif Ibrahim.

During the visit, Unisel renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Petra, Jordan, to continue cooperation and it was witnessed by the former Prime Minister of Jordan, Dr Adnan Badran.

They also visited the headquarters of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS) in Amman, Jordan.

Nik Nazmi also gave the keynote address at the World Affairs Council.

He also presented a contribution of RM10,000 from the Selangor government to the Jordan Selangor Children’s Welfare Organisation (BKASJ) and met 133 Selangor students.

At the end of the visit, the delegation also visited schools and Syrian refugee camps in Irbid and Mafraq.
