MPKj the first local authority to use GIS to monitor criminal cases

KAJANG, 13 Apr: The use of the Urban Crime Hotspot Web can help reduce criminal cases in Kajang when the public can obtain information through the services provided.

The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) Yang Dipertua, Mohd Sayuthi Bakar, said that through the application, users are given the true picture of areas where crime often happens so that vigilance can be increased.

“We cannot prevent crime, but we can provide information to the public about hotspots so that the public can be more careful when they are in the area,” he said during the launch of the GSI (Geographical Information System) Web, today.

The GIS Web allows users to obtain desired information quickly.

The Director of the Department of Urban Planning, Nizam Sahari, said that MPKj is the earliest local authority to implement the GIS Web system.

“The department can share information about development more accurately and improve the quality of services to customers to expedite matters.

“Our main goal is to facilitate developers and landowners in MPKj to know in detail about land without having to go to the site,” he said.
