MPK seized 7,186 immoral ads

KLANG, 14 Apr: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) seized 7,186 illegal advertisements, including those from loan sharks, and issued compounds to the companies and owners of the loan ads.

The Yang Dipertua, Datuk Mohammad Yacob, said that the illegal ads have always received attention from MPK and the operation has been going on for a long time.

“These operations are often held to combat the activities of loan sharks that attracts people to loan money. It is also conducted to destroy ads that do not have licences,” he said in a press statement.

At the same time, he said that the phone numbers displayed on the loan sharks’ ads will be submitted to the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) after the line is checked for three times by MPK.

He said that 26 of the phone numbers displayed on the ads by loan sharks were sent to SKMM for the cancellation of the phone line last year.

“The move is seen as being capable of addressing immoral activities. Cooperation from the local community to immediately report if there are cases where illegal ads are put up in their areas is also important.
