Free taxi service for the disabled & the poor

SHAH ALAM, 16 Apr: Three Assemblymen launched the Free Taxi Scheme (STP) to help the poor and the disabled.

The scheme was launched by the Damansara Utama Assemblyman, Yeo Bee Yin; Kampung Tunku, Lau Weng San and Bukit Gasing, R Rajiv, in collaboration with the MyTeksi service to help the people receive free taxi services in carrying out matters related to the government.

Yeo Bee Yin said that among the places where the free service is provided are hospitals and government clinics, the Registration Department (NRD) and the Community Welfare Department (JKM).

“For a start, this scheme will be carried out in three areas to see the effectiveness in helping the poor and the disabled. Those with a household income of RM1,200 and below are eligible to apply for this scheme,” he said.

Bee Yin said that the problem of unsystematic public transportation and the high cost of taxi makes it difficult for these groups to carry out their matters.

“For the first two months, the full cost will be sponsored by MyTeksi. The public can apply for this scheme at the three constituency service centres,” she said.
