Water disruption in Kajang, tankers ordered to assist residents

SHAH ALAM, 21 Apr: Water tankers were immediately provided in areas affected by the water disruption at some areas in Hulu Langat.

The Kajang Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said on Facebook that she had contacted the Selangor Water Supply Company (Syabas) for further action.

“The Kajang constituency service centre received complaints that water supply was cut at Sungai Chua.

“My office has already contacted Syabas and they promised to send tankers immediately. The people’s needs must be our priority,” she said.

According to a statement by Syabas this morning, the supply disruption was caused by the closure of the water supply from the Cheras Batu 11 LPA Water Treatment Plant because the water level at the river is at a critical stage.

Among the areas affected are Cheras Jaya Industrial Park, Taman Seri Sungai Long, Taman Bukit Sungai Long, Taman Sinaran and AEON Cheras Selatan.

The water supply is expected to recover depending on the re-operation of the plant.

For more information on the water supply, the public can download the mySYABAS application on the Google Playstore or the Appstore.
