Selangor contributes RM50,000 to upgrade the Kg Mengkuang Mosque

PENANTI, 24 Apr: The Selangor government contributed RM50,000 to the Kampung Mengkuang Semarak Mosque for upgrades.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, hopes that the contribution will help them enliven the mosque with various programmes.

“We know that the leaders of the mosque are trying to upgrade the mosque and develop a religious school.

“Therefore, after discussion, we agreed to donate a total of RM50,000 to the mosque’s fund,” he said during the People’s Feast at the Kampung Mengkuang Semarak Mosque.

He said that the mosque is an important institution to Muslims and it should be given attention by all.

“We need to enliven mosques and suraus because there is no meaning to having a beautiful mosque but no activities,” he said.

In addition, Mohamed Azmin also donated daily necessities to 100 recipients comprising of senior citizens and low-income earners.

Prior to this, he also took the opportunity to carry out the Friday prayer with about 100 residents from the area.

Also present was the Penang Religious Exco, Malik Kassim, and the Penang Islamic Foundation Chairman, Datuk Mansor Othman.
