Errant traders to face RM500 compound

BANTING, 30 Apr: A maximum compound of RM500 await traders who endanger visitors by placing tables and chairs at parking areas.

The Yang Dipertua of the Kuala Langat District Council (MDKL), Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali, said that the move is to provide awareness to all traders in regions under their supervision to not be arbitrary in gaining more profit.

He said that the compound will be taken under Section 46 (1) (a) of the Street, Drainage & Building Act 1974 (Act 133).

“MDKL will not compromise with premises owners who are errant and take for granted the safety aspect of the local people in managing their business operations.

“Customers are also advised to prioritise safety in choosing premises with comfortable and safe environments,” he said in a press statement.

Recently, MDKL launched a joint operation involving seven enforcement officers, helped by two Kuala Langat IPD police officers.

The results of the operations is 74 chairs and 16 tables placed in the MDKL parking area were seized.
