SHAH ALAM, 12 May: A total of RM2.8 million has been allocated by the state government in an effort to empower women to undertake a range of activities and skills training.
The Exco for Women’s Affairs, Health and Welfare, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that from the amount, RM30,000 will be given to each Women Empowerment Centre (PWB).
She said that 30,000 women have been targeted to be involved in the Empowerment Agenda programme.
“The focus of the empowerment module this year is gender understanding, economic conditioning, training skills, as well as health and family security,” she told reporters at the PWB Supervisor’s Certificate Presentation Ceremony and the launch of the new PWB logo at the SUK Building.
She said that PWB is a platform for women to develop themselves in various business fields.
In the programme, 56 PWB supervisors were appointed to represent the voice of women in each constituency.
She also wants PWB supervisors to carry out their roles and responsibilities well.
So far, each PWB conducts workshops for clothes and curtain sewing, as well as cooking workshops that include baking cakes, biscuits, and kuih.
Not missing out craft workshops that are sold and promoted as PWB revenue to generate women’s income in PWB.
