Renting premises to foreigners, business licenses revoked

KLANG, 29 May: The Exco for Legalising Illegal Factories and New Village Development, Ean Yong Hian Wah, ordered the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to immediately revoke the business licenses of local businesses that rent premises to foreigners.

“MPK was asked to hold stricter enforcement operations and to revoke their business licenses,” he said after a visit to the Meru Market Complex yesterday.

The issue of foreigners is among the complaints raised by the market stall owners’ association during the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Director of the MPK Department of Valuation and Property Management, Long Shalawati Mohd Sahit, said that they hold operations every year to monitor the problem.

“The issue of foreigners is happening at many places, including under the supervision of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). Each year we hold operations and action will be taken if there are complaints,” he said.

At the same time, Long Shalawati informed that MPK will reopen public toilets that were closed temporarily at the market after reaching an alternative solution.

MPK has to close part of the toilets because they were clogged due to the disposal of business goods and wet goods.

The situation became uncomfortable to visitors and traders due to irresponsible parties.
