GERAMM strongly objects the PAS delegation threatening journalists

SHAH ALAM: The Angry Media Movement (GERAMM) strongly denies the act by the delegates of the PAS Youth that expressed physical threats against a journalist from a local news portal during the PAS Youth Congress yesterday.

Instead, the delegate, Syarhan Humaizi Abdul Halim, who is also the Selangor PAS Youth Chief, was asked to formally declare to the news agency involved if there is a problem or of they object to a news.

In fact, GERAMM said that the PAS Youth also could use legal channels if the news by Mohd Farhan Darwis was defamatory.

“GERAMM strongly denied threats against journalists in any physical shape,” said the GERAMM press statement today.

Syarhan reportedly mentioned Mohd Farhan’s name and read the first paragraph of the news causing observers to look towards the media and chant “Retract! Retract! Boycott”.

At the same time, the delegation also continued chanting the same phrase while searching for Farhan among media workers.

Farhan however denied the report.

GERAMM is a loose alliance of journalists, media representatives and local activists fighting for freedom of press and its practitioners.
