Selangor athletes contribute 27 gold medals in the SEA Games 2015

SHAH ALAM, 20 June: Selangor athletes contributed 27 out of the 62 gold medals for Malaysia in the SEA Games 2015.

The Deputy Director of the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) Development, Mohamad Nizam Marjugi, said that the achievement is a rewarding achievement especially for young athletes.

“We do not set any target but we certainly want our athletes to maintain their standard to be achieved, thus contributing to as many medals as possible.

“With about 70 Selangor athletes representing the country, I think that the medal contribution in the last SEA Games is something to be proud of,” he told Selangor Kini.

The Malaysian contingent managed to win a total of 186 medals with 62 gold, 58 silver and 66 bronze in the SEA Games 2015 in Singapore.

In addition to gold medals, Selangor athletes also contributed 18 golds and 15 bronze, bringing the total to 60 gold medals.

Among the Selangor athletes who contributed gold medals include sailing with three golds through Muhd Dhiauddin Rozaini, Muhammad Farhan Hamid and Norashikin Mohd Sayed.

Meanwhile, gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi contributed the most gold medals through various events with two gold medals, one silver and three bronze medals.
