Lajum: Sabah will emulate Selangor

SABAH, 12 Aug: The concept of “Quality Development, People First” is Sabah’s inspiration if the state is conquered in the 14th General Election.

The PKR Chairman, Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, said that it is not only followed, but it will improve programmes to share the state’s wealth, including the urban poor.

“We are very concerned about the people’s problems. It is also the party’s national policy. However, the initiative will also be given to the urban poor.

“In Kota Kinabalu and Likas, even though they are cities, there are many who are poor. We found that in our study,” he told Selangor Kini when met at his residence in Likas recently.

Lajim said that employment opportunities for the youth will be expanded to include government employees and the private sector, including business opportunities.

“The young people need transparency. We will get them jobs and businesses. Just look at the Sabah Malaysian University (UMB), there are four thousand graduates per year, but not enough jobs.

“The people’s money will never be used wrongly and will not profit the people or cronies.

“This is all done by Barisan Nasional (BN). If the same thing is repeated, in five years we will lose the government whether BN takes over or a new party,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also demanded for the Federal Government to provide more budgetary allocations to the state for development balance to be implemented.

“They promised in the next five years there will be changes, but we currently see no changes. For example, there are many highways on the Peninsula, but none in Sabah. There is no balance in this country.

“Sabah, in terms of connectivity, is very far. There should be more provisions being given to this state. That is why we are fighting,” he said.
