Speaker: Media reports that the DNS passed for DEIG operations to be terminated are not true

SHAH ALAM, 20 Aug: Media reports that claim that the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) passed the notion for the operations of the Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) to be terminated are not true, said the DNS Speaker, Hannah Yeoh.

She said that the DNS yesterday was just listening to the presentation on the Statement by the Select Committee on Agencies, Statutory Bodies and State Subsidiary Companies (JP-ABAS) before being discussed and passed to be scrutinised by the state government.

“There was a news report saying that what was passed yesterday is the motion to terminate DEIG’s operations. That is not true, but what was passed was the statement regarding the DEIG and they are two different matters.

“The Assembly only presented, discussed and passed the statement. This is the recommendation by this committee but the state government is not required to follow everything in the statement,” she said during a press statement at the DNS lobby today.

Hannah said that the two matters suggested by JP-ABAS in the statement is the suggestion for the state government to prepare the white paper for public information and to require the MBI to present the annual report to the DNS.

She said that the state government should provide feedback to the DNS in the session scheduled to take place in November.

“The state government must respond. It will be given in the next DNS session, which is in November, and that is why there is time to check and examine the statement provided by the ABAS select committee,” she said.
