CM: Water concession offer remains at RM1.68 billion

SHAH ALAM, 17 Aug: The offer to acquire the three concessionaires remain at RM1.68 billion until today, said Chief Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said that RM1.07 billion was offered for Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd, RM0.52 billion for the Selangor Water Supply Company and RM0.09 billion for Konsortium ABBAS Sdn Bhd.

“This acquisition cost will be incurred by Air Selangor, which agreed to move water and land assets worth RM2 billion to Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) for the total cash balance with the same amount.

“Air Selangor will finance 100 percent of the acquisition of the equity interest in the concessionaires which are Syabas, Punack Niaga, Abbas and Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash),” he said.

He said this when replying to a verbal question from Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Kajang) regarding the water industry at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) today.

At the same time, Mohamed Azmin (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) said that negotiations with Splash are still ongoing and a period of 12 months is given until the end of the main agreement.

He said to facilitate the people’s understanding, reference material regarding the water industry will also be published to avoid misunderstanding.

“I have submitted a plan to the Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) to prepare an explanation that is easier to understands so as to not have slander come up among the people in the state government’s effort to provide the best service,” he said.
