SHAH ALAM, 10 Sept: It is time for the federal government, through the Ministry of Health (MOH), to carry out their responsibilities to upgrade the facilities at all hospitals, especially in Selangor, for the comfort of patients, staff and visitors.
The Exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the need should be directed to old hospitals that have to accommodate patients on a large-scale everyday.
“We welcome any effort to upgrade hospital needs, especially old hospitals.
“Upgrading efforts should be done to the infrastructure, staff services and doctor expertise for the comfort of the patients there,” she told Selangor Kini.
She said this when commenting on a statement by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who wants hospital upgrading to be done immediately after his visit to the Kajang Hospital on September 8.
Najib admitted that the hospital, which was built in 1889, requires the government’s attention for the purpose of improving the facilities and safety aspect for the comfort of patients and staff.
“The government is ready to consider any proposal to modify and upgrade the hospital so that it can provide quality health services comfortably and safely to those who need it,” Najib said.
At the same time, Daroyah also expressed disappointment over the government’s decision to not include the proposal to construct the Kapar Hospital in the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).
According to him, the state government has provided a land of 50 acres for the project and detailed discussions have been had with the officers from the MOH and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
