Haze API: 34 areas record an unhealthy index

SHAH ALAM, 15 Sept: 34 areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 10 this morning.

According to the Department of Environment, the highest reading was recorded in Ipoh, Perak, where it was 190, followed by Kuantan, Pahang (184) and Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (181).

Apart from that, Kemaman (180), Nilai (174), Banting (174), Seremban (168) and Bukit Rambai (160). While Jerantut, Seri Manjung, Pelabuhan Klang and Putrajaya recorded the same reading of 166.

Other areas that also recorded unhealthy air quality are Port Dickson and Indera Mahkota (155), Shah Alam (152), Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (152), Cheras (150), Bandaraya Melaka (149), Petaling Jaya (147), Kg. Air Putih, Taiping (143), Muar (126), Pasir Gudang (104), Bakar Arang, Sg. Petani (121), Perai (127), USM (122), Kuala Selangor (111) and Paka (119).

In Sarawak, the five areas that recorded unhealthy readings are Sri Aman (153), Satikei (136), Samarahan (120), Sibu (116) and Kuching (111).

Meanwhile, the air quality in Sabah is at a moderate level.

API readings between 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).
