Women friendly sports promotes a healthy lifestyle

SHAH ALAM, 1 June: More women-friendly championships and sports will be held to encourage women to be involved in sports and to have healthy lifestyle.

The Exco for Young Generation Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development, Amirudin Shari, said that previously focus was given on men, synonymous with football and futsal, the organisatuon of netball has been increased for this group.

“I see that a lot of competitions being organised by the office and service centres are more towards male sports such as futsal and football.

“For this year, we are organising netball competitions, including other sports that are more compatible with women,” he told Selangor Kini.

In addition, many women now prefer to participate in running competitions.

According to her, women’s programmes can be organised in collaboration with the Women’s Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi.

Amirudin added that women’s constraints to actively participate in sports is because they are busy taking care of the family.
