Deficit declined, CM confident of a balanced budget

SABAK BERNAM, 25: The state government is confident that the deficit budget that was presented in the Budget 2015 will become a balanced budget before the end of this year.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Azmin Ali, said that at the moment the fiscal deficit of the state government managed to be reduced to RM670 thousand compared to the projected deficit of RM452.

“So far, the state government has earned more than the projected amount.

“I am confident that the in the remaining few months before the end of 2015, we will achieve a balanced budget,” he said.

He said this at the Selangor Chief Minister’s Qurban Programme in Sabak Bernam in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha at the Sultan Muhammad Shah Mosque, Parit 10, today.

Mohamed Azmin said that he decided to present a deficit budget for 2015 after the state government expected an economic slowdown this year.

He said that the resolution was taken to enable the state government to generate economic growth in the state with various people’s development expenditure.

“The state government has also managed to increase reserves to RM3.7 billion and this is the highest figure ever recorded,” he said.
