The depreciation of the RM does not affect state revenue

SHAH ALAM, 8 June: The depreciation of the Malaysian Ringgit (RM) at the moment does not affect the financial or the investment returns of the state.

The State Financial Officer, Datuk Noordin Sulaiman, said that this is because Selangor has good infrastructure, making investors able to develop existing or new investment.

“We have good fairly good infrastructure. We have a port, good roads and an airport that is close by. We also have effective Wifi and telecommunications facilities.

“This is very important because in the business and investment world, they want to move with all transactions being carried out quickly.

“So, this means that investment will continue to come in, either for expansion or new investment,” he told Selangor Kini.

Meanwhile, the state’s revenue will not at all be affected as it is state revenue.

“This is because state revenue is generated from tax revenues, non-tax revenues and revenue receipts.

“This revenue is not directly related to the depreciation of the ringgit,” he said.
