Budget 2016: Street lights across Selangor to be changed to LED next year

SHAH ALAM, 26 Sept: A total of 2,800 street lights under the supervision of local authorities across Selangor will be replaced with LED (light-emitting diode) lights starting next year.

The Exco for Local Government, Ean Yong Hian Wah, said that the plan contained in the Selangor Budget 2016 will be taken to provide brighter lighting that is durable and cost effective.

“All street lights under local authorities will be replaced by LEDs in stages.

“It has already been approved by the state government and will begin next year at a cost of over RM5 million for 2,800 street lights across Selangor,” he told Selangor Kini.

Hian Wah said that the project will begin in urban areas, followed by rural areas.

He explained that these LED street lighting will also be added in stages in the following years, according to current needs.
