Study 53 old tombstones

SHAH ALAM, 10 June: The Selangor State Malay Customs and Heritage Cooperation (PADAT) will examine old Acheh tombstones discovered in Kuala Selangor.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Faizul Fitri Muslil, said that the study is important to identify its authenticity before it can be displayed publicly.

“The Sultan Alam Shah Museum Curator’s Department is studying to obtain data and evidence, including the age of the old tombstones.

“There are approximately 52 tombstones in total,” he said during a press conference after the launch of the Selangor International Museum Day 2015 on June 9.

Mohd Faizul said that the finding is important and can attract the people to visit the museum.

He said that PADAT is also working to move the Bugis Home to the museum to increase the collection of historical material.

“We run a variety of programmes and activities continuously to attract the public to the museum,” he said, adding that a RM8.9 million allocation was provided by the Selangor government.
