8,778 dengue cases in MPSJ, campaign intensified

SHAH ALAM, 30 Sept: 8,776 dengue cases were reported in the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSK) administrative area this year in the 38 Epid Week which is until September 26.

The MPSJ Yang Dipertua, Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan, said that the effort in the implementation of the 10 Minute Campaign to combat Aedes is the MPSJ’s priority to reduce dengue cases from increasing.

“Dengue cases increased by 3,092 cases compared to week 24, 5,684 dengue cases. Meanwhile, there were nine deaths recorded from January until now.

“Various campaigns and activities are being carried out, but if there is no awareness among local residents and they only rely on the local authorities, cases will not reduce,” he said during the ninth MPSJ Meeting today.

He said that MPSJ hopes for the role and cooperation of all parties in ensuring that their premises are free from dengue.

“A total of 130 compounds were issued to premises that failed to comply with the cleanliness of the surroundings, resulting in Aedes breeding grounds growing rampant.

“From relentless efforts to implement dengue programmes, this year cases have reduced compared to last year,” he said.
