Selangor PAN urged police to investigate Raja Muda defamation case

SHAH ALAM, 2 Oct: The Selangor Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) today lodged a police report against the former Chief Minister of Malacca, Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Thamby Chik, regarding his allegation against the Selangor Raja Muda recently.

Its Chairman, Abbas Salimmi Datuk Adzmi, said that the report made was on the Facebook account using Rahim Tamby Chik’s name and for the case to be investigated under the Sedition Act 1957.

“As people who respect and love the monarchy institution, we express regret regarding the statement, especially since it involves faith.

“It must be kept in mind that the Selangor Raja Muda is the heir to the sultanate and the Sultan of Selangor is the State’s Islamic Religious Leader,” he told reporters in front of the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters.

He was present at 10 am, accompanied by the Chairman of Pro Guam Amanah, Zainal Said, and several members of the Selangor PAN Youth.

On Sept 25, Rahim, through Facebook, commented that the Selangor Raja Muda had converted religion and linked it as a news that is saddening to Muslims.

Following the statement, the Selangor Royal Council denied the allegation and expressed regret and slammed the move as defamation, sedition and malicious.

However, Rahim issued an apology statement, but until now had not retracted the allegation.
