The rescuers were forced to close the road heading to Shah Alam and divert traffic to the Bukit Jelutong route to carry out cleaning tasks.

The Operations Assistant Director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Mohd Sani Harul, said that during the incident, the trailer from a factory in Rawang was carrying six barrels of sulfuric acid weighing 6,000 kilogrammes and three barrels of nitric acid weighing 3,000 kilogrammes.

However, one barrel of nitric acid weighing 1000 kilogrammes suffered a leak, causing the acid to spill onto the road.

According to him, the fire department successfully controlled the flow of the acid using an absorption technique, soda ash, and a water curtain to prevent the acid fumes from spreading.
