Selangor women generate income during Ramadan

SHAH ALAM, 19 June: The Selangor Migration Programme encourages women in the state to generate income at Ramadan bazaar to raise their standard of living.

The Exco for Welfare, Health and Women’s Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that more women are taking out loans by participating in the Selangor Microcredit Scheme (SkimSel) and the Urban Poor Microcredit Programme (MiMBAR) for a better future.

“As such, it provides an opportunity for women to develop themselves widely in the field of business, however it still requires hard work.

“At the state government level, women and bazaar traders are concerned about security and cleanliness of their stalls and also their food.

Daroyah said that in addition, the Women’s Empowerment Centre (PWB) is also running courses as a platform to create jobs and economic opportunities for the people, in addition to welfare programmes.
