SHAH ALAM, 12 Oct: The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) announced thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are predicted to hit several states until this evening.
The warning was issued by MetMalaysia on Facebook and there are two sections involved, section A for Malaysian Waters including Selangor, Sarawak (Rejang, Mukah and Bintulu), the Federal territory of Labuan and Sabah (Pedalaman, Pantai Barat, Kudat and Sandakan).
Whereas section B is for Shipping and thunderstorms are expected to happen at the waters of Condore, Reef North, Reef South and Labuan, and is expected to continue until early this evening.
The condition can cause strong winds of up to 50 kilometres and rough seas with waves up to 3.5 metres (11 feet) that are dangerous to small boats.
In addition, MetMalaysia also announced that it will carry out the Malaysian Tsunami Early Warning System siren at Bagan Datoh, perak, starting from 9 am.
MetMalaysia informed the residents in the surrounding area to not panic by the sound of the siren because it is only a test of the system.
