MPK managed to catch 411 rats

SHAH ALAM, 13 Oct: The attitude of premises owners who disregard hygiene and like leaving food scraps in garbage chambers have been identified as contributors that have caused the breeding of rats around Klang.

The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Corporate Communications Head, Norfiza Mahfiz, said that 411 rats were caught from January to September this year by using the mouse trap and adhesive trap method at identified locations.

“The operation will be continued from time to time to ensure that issues related to rats can be addressed to prevent health problems that can be brought about by these animals.

“These chambers often are the target of rats to get food and over time, it will become grounds for them to breed in large numbers,” she said in a statement.

Norfiza said that scupper drain and old drain are also among the target locations.

She said that a number of locations identified to have a high number of rats are Bandar Baru Klang, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and the Klang Utara City Centre (Centrepoint).
