Vote of no confidence against Najib difficult but the Speaker can play a role

SHAH ALAM, 14 Oct: Opposition leaders concurred with the views of Umno veteran member, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, that the motion of no confidence will not be successful in the next Parliamentary session.

The Kelana Jaya MP, Wong Chen, who supports the statement said that the Parliament Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, has the power to reject or accept any motion as he is responsible for arranging the on-goings of the Parliament.

“If the motion is rejected, the Speaker must give an explanation regarding the rejection.

“We (MPs) can ask for an explanation and criticise the decision through other motions,” he said when commenting on the statement by the Gua Musang MP’s statement.

He said that PKR and other opposition leaders are ready to support any efforts to have a vote of no confidence if brought to Parliament.

He said that all parties are looking for ‘other ways’ that will be submitted to ensure that Datuk Seri Najib Razak resigns as the Prime Minister.
