Biennial SUKMA good for measuring performance of athletes

SHAH ALAM, 3 Sept: The organisation of the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) biennially starting next year will bring about benefits to the development of sports in the state and country.

The Exco for Young Generation, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneur Development, Amirudin Shari, said that this change is suitable with the organisation of the state level sports that is held intermittently with SUKMA.

“This year we held SUKSES, next year it will be the SUKMA, then SUKSES 2017 and SUKMA 2018, and so on.

“The change for SUKMA is the right move because we can reconstitute sports development programmes and measure the performance of athletes before the SUKMA,” he said during a press conference today.

Amirudin said that the organisation of SUKMA each year will see the Selangor State Sports Council’s schedule being rather full in preparing the contingent for the games.

He said that the state government expresses appreciation to the National Sports Council (MSN) which redrafted the SUKMA to He said the State Government paid tribute to the National Sports Council (NSC) who drafted back in spirit to the organization two years.
