Khalid: Resign ‘if’ you have dignity

SHAH ALAM, 3 Sept: Datuk Seri Najib Razak should resign as the Prime Minister for the sake of adhering to the Malaysian people’s complaints, especially those who participated in the Bersih 4.0 rally on August 29 and 30.

The Shah Alam MP, Khalid Abd Samad, said that a Prime Minister with dignity needs to do so if he is unable to give a clear answer on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) crisis and the receipt of the RM2.6 billion.

“In the interest of the country and to restore the confidence of the international community, he needs to take leave or resign to clear his name,” he said during a press conference today.

He will support the motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister in the Dewan Rakyat to allow a transitional government to be formed soon in order to save the country’s situation.

Khalid said that the opposition, which is made up of only 89 people, only needs the support of 30 Barisan Nasional MPs to achieve this.

“When a transitional government is former, we have to do three important things; investigate the 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion cases until it ends, and to repeal policies that are detrimental to the people.

“In addition, amendments to election rules that are more transparent and fair must be made. After that, a new election can be held,” he said.
